The Securities and Exchange Commission under Chairperson Lilia R. Bautista has requested that tycoon John Gokongwei make a full disclosure of his planned joint venture with First Pacific Co. of Hong Kong to acquire the latters interest in Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. and and property interests of Metro Pacific Co. in Bonifacio Land Corporation.
But the Gokongwei group maintained that the SEC has no jurisdiction yet over the their planned takeover of PLDT, as the group has yet to decide which of its corporate entities will take part in the venture, an official from the Gokongwei group said.
