NEW YORK-The casual furniture business has gotten off to a strong start this season, fueling hopes that it will fare as well as or better than last year.
After a very weak early-buy ordering period, small to midsize retailers are suddenly scrambling to replenish their floors, placing demands on suppliers.
"We've seen a large surge in our business in the last few months, with all the pent-up demand," said Mark Gorr, vice president of sales and marketing for Tropitone. "Reorders are coming in 60 to 90 days earlier than usual."
Other suppliers echoed that sentiment.
