MURFREESBORO -- MURFREESBORO - Frances Van Brackle sat back in a white rocking chair in her Murfreesboro gift shop and readily gave her opinion of why income in this industry-poor town has risen so sharply over the past 10 years.
``Retirees have discovered that this is a fabulous place to live,'' Van Brackle said.
The only thing that validates her belief is an ever-growing pool of senior citizens who volunteer in the town's historic district and faithfully attend morning coffee discussions, she said.
Town and county officials have no other way to explain it.
