Formosa Plastic plans's future clouded

TAIPEI -- Confusion surrounds the future of Formosa Plastic's multi-billion-dollar synthetics project in China after it was disclosed recently that FPG chairman Wang Yung-ching had bowed to the Taiwan government's demand for a postponement, if not an outright cancellation, of the project.

Winston Wang, the chairman's eldest son and heir apparent, told FN that no one in the Formosa Plastics Taipei "command center" had any information on the project, other than what has been reported to date.
