Jowonio, a school serving young children with a wide range of abilities, has completed the purchase of a larger building at 3049 E. Genesee St. from the New York State Community of Churches and will begin renovations immediately for fall occupancy, school director Ellen Barnes said.
The school, which was a national pioneer in inclusive education when it was founded 33 years ago, has outgrown its building at 215 Bassett St. Jowonio School began a $1.6 million capital campaign in January 2001 to buy and renovate the 30,000-square-foot office building, now called The Center.
