FARMINGDALE, N.Y. _ Neither rain delay, nor gloom of night, nor charge from back in the pack could prevent Tiger Woods from the eventual completion of his appointed round Sunday at the U.S. Open.
By finishing that round with a three-stroke lead in the fading twilight at Bethpage State Park, Woods won his eighth major championship and moved a step closer to a possible date with professional golf's history book.
