Detroit, Mich. -- For years, the gospel went: You can't win a Stanley Cup with Brett Hull. It was as if he were poison, rotting the team from the inside out with selfish play, marginal character and a cavalier attitude.
When the playoff push came to shove, Hull was nowhere to be found on teams nowhere to be found. That was the rap, anyway.
In just a few seasons, the pendulum has swung: If you want to a win a Stanley Cup, maybe your first order of business should be putting Brett Hull in one of your uniforms.
Dallas did, and Hull scored the Cup-winning goal in 1999. The Red Wings bagged him last summer, ...
