The primary computer-to-p late (CTP) imaging technologies--silverbased visible light, silver-free visible light photopolymer, and thermal-- are all now well established, with products provided by multiple vendors. While these suppliers continue to fight pitched battles for market share, others are introducing digital plates for special purposes.
In the United States, thermal plates dominate CTP with about 75% market share, according to Derek Wyse, an analyst based in the United Kingdom who has studied international CTP trends since 1993.
