TWELVE QUAYS has been hailed as the biggest dockside civil engineering project since the building of the Royal Seaforth Dock in the 1960s.
The chief executive of the Mersey Docks and Harbour Company, Peter Jones, believes the project will be as crucial for the commercial well-being of Wirral as Seaforth has been for north Merseyside. It will be a massive catalyst for new industries and job creation prospects across Wirral.
The pounds 25m terminal at Birkenhead came into operation this week when the NorseMerchant Belfast service moved from Brocklebank Dock in Liverpool.
