"Dharma Blues," the new record by Peter Lang, marks the finger-style guitarist's return to the spotlight after a two-decade hiatus. He comes to Sam Bond's Garage, 407 Blair Blvd., on Wednesday for a 9 p.m. show.
Like Leo Kottke, Lang was discovered by the late John Fahey and recorded during the 1970s on Fahey's Takoma Records. The 1974 Takoma release "John Fahey/Peter Lang/Leo Kottke" rose to No. 4 on the Billboard Magazine FM radio chart and became the label's best-selling album. In the early 1980s, Lang put his music aside to pursue a career in animation and special-effects work.
