Because latex material contains certain proteins, latex products have been shown to cause allergic reactions in some health-care workers, and PVC materials have been identified to be replaced by some health-care and medical product manufacturers. GLS Corp., a supplier of soft thermoplastic elastomers for the medical and food packaging industries, is introducing a line of TPEs designed for medical applications requiring a PVC-free or latex-free alternative.
