WINSTON Churchill and US President Franklin D Roosevelt decided to tell Charles de Gaulle about the Normandy invasion only five days before D-Day - such was their dislike and mistrust of the French leader. Secret telegrams between the British Prime Minister and the President - revealed for the first time today - give a graphic account of the progress of Operation Overlord - D-Day's codename - and Churchill's attempts to bring De Gaulle "into line".
