WASHINGTON -- Residential mortgage lenders originated $571.9 billion in home loans during the first quarter, according to National Mortgage News' Quarterly Data Report (NMN/QDR), published by Thomson Media.
The first quarter was the second best quarter ever, in terms of loan production for residential originators. According to exclusive survey data compiled by NMN/QDR, the nation's top 100 lenders originated $476.6 billion in home mortgages during the quarter using three different production channels: retail (consumer direct); wholesale (table funding through loan brokers); and correspondent (loan purchases).
