Relief pitcher Jesus Silva has a lot to look forward to when he returns to Venezuela after this season besides a contract with a highly competitive Caracas league. Silva, who helped take care of his mother and two sisters when his father suffered a severe accident in which he lost an eye and an arm seven years ago, will have a baby to take care of.
His wife, who lives in Venezuela, is eight months pregnant. Silva, who will play in today's 2002 MBNA America Carolina League-California League All-Star Game in Wilmington, Del., hopes to get the chance to be there for the birth.
