Complaints to the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) over Internet advertising rose 50% last year. But the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) believes that misuse of the medium is declining compared to the total market.
Last year the ASA received 750 complaints about Internet advertising, which includes commercial emails, compared to 500 in 2000.
However, Danny Meadows-Klue, the chairman and CEO of IAB UK, believes the figure is misleading as much online advertising falls out-side ASA or IAB jurisdiction.
