Kieran Folliard was a soccer fan first and a restaurant owner second. In his heart, those priorities remain in the same order.
Folliard, owner of three downtown Minneapolis eateries, will open one, The Local, to televise Friday morning's World Cup quarterfinal match between the United States and Germany. He is not daunted by a 6:30 a.m. start time or the fact he will lose money on the deal.
It's about the love of the sport.
"It's kind of a community service," Folliard said. "We were going to be watching it anyway. We might as well watch it as a group."
