The Coleman Institute seeks integration of high tech into daily life.
Early last year, the University of Colorado received a $250-million gift endowment from William "Bill" Coleman, III. The gift is being paid over a period of five years toward the building of the University of Colorado's Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities. Bill and his wife, Claudia, had decided that they would give back to society, doing so for the community of people with special needs--while harnessing his knowledge of computers, honed from the early years of his career as an executive at Sun Microsystems. Coleman is currently the chairman and CEO of his own company, BEA Systems.
