Jun. 21--Staring at rear bumpers, hopelessly stuck in gridlock on a freeway, drivers wait in frustration. Minutes tick away. Cars idle. Air conditioners hum.
And fuel gauges plunge.
Motorists are wasting an average of $160 worth of fuel and 74 hours of time per year while stuck in congested Metroplex traffic, according to a study released Thursday.
That would be enough gasoline and time for rush-hour drivers from the Metroplex to zigzag from New York to Los Angeles to Fort Worth.
