I am pleased to begin my presidency of the American Nephrology Nurses' Association (ANNA) with the publication of this special issue of Nephrology Nursing Journal (NNJ), which is devoted to transplant topics. Transplantation is growing as a modality choice, and nephrology nurses must possess a broad knowledge of issues, ranging from preoperative and postoperative topics to financial concerns, in order to provide effective patient care.
