Herbal medicine has come of age in the past decade, moving from the health food stores to being universally available, including on the Internet. While herbal remedies were once known to only a few, now they are common household products. Herbal products are used across all demographic groups. Many who use herbal products rely predominantly on family, friends, and the store clerks for information. Transplant recipients frequently consult with their transplant coordinator regarding prescribed medication use or over-the-counter drugs, but fail to report the use of herbal medicines.
