The thing about neocon governments is they always deliver the opposite of what they promise. Gordon Campbell's Liberals campaigned on a promise of lower taxes. But since taking office in May, 2001, they hiked the provincial sales tax and health-care premiums, and de-funded many services, leaving most British Columbians with less money in their pockets.
The Liberals vowed to "renew public health care" through "adequate funding" and "proper staffing." But instead they crafted a plan, leaked in March, to privatize 20,000 hospital-support workers and lay off thousands more.
