Drive by Bryan Fraser's refinishing shop, Fraser Performance, in Stockton Springs, Maine, and you can't mistake what Fraser does for a living. In early May, there were half-a-dozen fiberglass hulls outside the shop, and two more inside the building. Work hadn't started on some hulls, some were in the process of being completed, and one, the lobster boat Lady Gambler, was having a few finishing touches applied before going in the water.
The 37-foot Lady Gambler, owned by Bar Harbor's Skip Young, is a 35-foot Mitchell Cove hull with 2 feet added to her stern. She had already tested the water on a sea trial in Searsport Harbor. Her 375-hp John Deere ran the boat out ...
