Jun. 22--WESTERLY, R.I.--Downtown Manager Sharon Ahern and Town Planner William Haase climbed aboard a KC-135 refueler late last month and flew all the way to a naval base outside San Diego, Calif., where they spent time on an aircraft carrier, ate early-morning breakfasts in a mess hall and endured the taunts of a drill sergeant.
The journey was part of Operation Bosslift, a national program that brings employers and municipal officials to military training sites to learn about the duties of National Guard and Reserve members.
