Jun. 26--At the urging of Arizona's Attorney General, Ford Motor Co. will immediately test a rubber bladder-lined fuel tank on Crown Victoria police cars to see whether they're needed to prevent explosions and fires after high-speed, rear-end collisions.
Ford says it will be the first automaker to test such fuel tanks on everyday vehicles. The tanks -- considered less likely to puncture and leak during impact -- are routinely used on race cars.
