Judges Tasted 3,810 Wines at the World's Biggest Wine Competition,
Now in its 22 year
Napa Valley's Beringer Vineyards won the highest honor at the 2002 San Francisco International Wine Competition, the "Bon Appetit Magazine Winery of the Year," for the first time, taking the coveted prize over 917 other wineries. Total number of wines entered was 3,810; this was a record number for the event, making it the biggest wine competition in the world. The event took place the weekend of June 21-23 at San Francisco's Park Hyatt Hotel.
