LOS ANGELES -- The California State PTA is disappointed with the ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court in the Zellman v. Simmons-Harris case declaring Cleveland's publicly funded voucher program constitutional.
"Voters in California have opposed voucher efforts twice at the polls. Californians value the role of public education to provide for all children and they value public schools in their communities. Vouchers have been continually rejected for three reasons: vouchers drain money from public schools, they guarantee no commitment to serve all students and they offer no accountability to taxpayers," said Cecelia Mansfield, Director of Legislation.
