The risks of terrorism, war and trade conflicts, combined with growing macroeconomic imbalances and concerns about corporate governance, have pushed the US from first place to fifth in the latest set of Business environment rankings from the Economist Intelligence Unit.

The US business environment, the best in the world in 1997-2001, is, over the next five years, expected to be less attractive than those of the Netherlands, Canada, Finland and the UK.
