When Argentinian-born, New York-based photographer Fernando Bengoechea visited the Greek island of Patmos last summer, he arrived with escape plans. "I don t stay anywhere for very long," he explains. His work, shooting travel and design stories for international magazines, requires him to be on a plane just about every week--to Europe, Asia and towns and cities all over America. In fact, he had accepted an invitation to stay with good friends on Patmos only after he'd looked into flights that could get him from Athens to Istanbul and Ethiopia when he was ready to move on.
