Officials of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) announced yesterday that military teams pursuing the remaining Abu Sayyaf elements have overrun four Abu Sayyaf camps in Patikul, Sulu.
A report relayed to Gen. Roy Cimatu, AFP chief of staff, said that the camps which were seized by troopers were in barangay Tanum; on Hill 269 in barangay Kabuntalan; in sitio Kantatang and in sitio Luba Hill, both in barangay Darayan, Patikul.
According to Lt. Col. Danilo Servando, AFP public information officer, the Abu Sayyaf camps were heavily fortified with trenches and caves transformed into bomb shelters.
