HARRISBURG, Pa. -- Battling the tightest economy in recent history, Gov. Mark Schweiker continued to make Pennsylvania's children and their education a top priority, signing legislation today to increase funding for Pennsylvania's public schools by $242 million over last year.
"This Administration always has emphasized public education," Gov. Schweiker said. "Over the past seven years, we have increased direct state support of our schools by nearly $2 billion, and we have launched powerful new education reforms to improve learning for our children.
