United Refining: Aggressive Competitor in Its Region
WARREN, Pa. - United Refining Co., a regional refiner and marketer in upstate Pennsylvania, has seen both sides of the mountain.
For most of its 88-year history it's been an independent refiner, but for a brief period between 1969 and 1981 United Refining was a publicly held Fortune 500 company. It returned to its independent status in 1981 when it was taken over by Houston-based Coral Petroleum Inc.
