PROJECT OVERVIEW:
An Indian joint venture was recently established in view of building a new power transmission line in India. The partners in the planned undertaking include the state-owned POWER GRID CORP. OF INDIA LTD. (PGCIL). and the TATA GROUP. Construction plans under consideration call for installing a line that will have a capacity of to carry 3,000 Mw of power. The new facility is intended to enable linking Bhutan to Deli.
According to R.P. Singh, POWER GRID Chairman, the 2 companies have now finalized the details of their partnership. According to the terms of the collaborative agreement, TATA will hold a 51% interest in the venture.
