REDEVELOPMENT of the commuter rail network in central Switzerland got underway recently with a contract awarded to Alcatel TAS Switzerland to install European Train Control System (ETCS) Level 1 equipment on a 30km, six-station section of the Seetalbahn between Lenzburg and Eschenbach, near Lucerne.
In an international tender, Alcatel proposed an innovative solution based on its local knowledge and technical know-how. This has been facilitated by a precise analysis of the requirements from which a tailor-made implementation concept was developed.
