To those in the industry, working for a hospice is not a service but a privilege -- a sacred trust shared with patient and, family.
"There's a saying in the industry that hospice workers are not hired, they're called, and we believe that," said Rondah Marks, business development director for Hospice Ministries Inc. headquartered in Jackson. "Hospice is a calling."
Marks, for one, felt led to the hospice industry. A healthcare industry worker for more than 20 years, she began working for Hospice Ministries four years ago.
"I felt led to do something that would affect people directly," Marks said. "And when I met some of the people who work here, ...
