CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Rep. Mel Watt (D-NC), Freddie Mac, the Urban League of Central Carolinas, and Bank of America announced today the CreditSmart(SM)/Homeownership Development Initiative -- a new city-wide consumer education and loan program that combines financial literacy workshops, homeownership counseling and flexible mortgage products in an effort to increase homeownership opportunities in Charlotte, particularly for minority families.
