Next week's loya jirga is just the beginning

SIX months after a blueprint for its political transition was drafted in Bonn, Afghanistan is about to take the next step on the road to peace. Next week a loya jirga--or grand council--will meet to decide who the next head of state will be, and what the next government will look like.
