/ADVANCE/RALEIGH, Sept. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- The chairman of Philip Morris USA said here Sept. 8 that increases in North Carolina's excise cigarette tax would seriously undermine the tobacco industry and the state's economy.
Frank E. Resnik, keynote speaker at the annual meeting of the N.C. Agribusiness Council Inc., said tobacco already pays nearly $600 million in state and local taxes, more than any other industry in North Carolina.
