Special effects will become a mainstay in Indian feature films, according to AK Madhavan, senior vice president, International Business at Crest Communications. He expects an impressive 100 per cent growth annually for the special effects business in India.
Mumbai post houses currently attract special effects work worth Rs 1 billion (US$20.42 million) each year. This is about half of the entire value of the special effects market for India, which Rajesh Turakhia, vice president of Maya Entertainment, another post house which does special effects and animation work, estimates at Rs 2 billion (US$40.85 million).
