German weaver Brennet is offering three antimicrobial materials for workwear shirts and blouses for use in the hospital sector. In a blend of Trevira Bioactive polyester and cotton, the fabrics are said to prevent odours developing and provide heightened security against bacteria. As the antimicrobial effect is embedded in the fibre, the effect can not be washed out, Trevira explains, and the risk of allergies, skin irritations and infections is reduced.
