Just when the WorldCom accounting scandal seemed to have nuked whatever remained of the telecom industry's appeal to investors, telephone company Eschelon Telecom of Minneapolis has managed to raise another $35 million in equity investments.
"I am amazed," said Robert Rosenberg, president of Insight Research Corp. in Parsippany, N.J. "What immediately separates Eschelon from the crowd is that it is not hanging by a thread."
Gary Arlen, a telecommunications analyst in Bethesda, Md., said Eschelon appears to be "a rare success story in an otherwise totally dismal telecom market."
