Jul. 4--If there is something to celebrate economically this Fourth of July -- the first since the terrorism of last September and since the 2001 recession ended -- it is San Antonio's perseverance.
As the fireworks soar in the skies over the soggy city tonight, it can be taken as a sign that the city not only can withstand yet another freaky flood, as happened earlier this week, but also keep itself whole economically while others around it cannot.
It is odd how the weather in San Antonio acts out of character with its economy. A bright summer, bone-dry drought ...
