WIMBLEDON, England -- Venus Williams realizes that when compared to her, most other players are just, well, stubby.
''I am quite tall,'' she said recently, drawing herself up to her full, 6-foot-1 height. ''Sometimes I wonder how I look to my opponent on the other side of the net. I probably look like I can just reach out and cover anything, maybe.''
While Elena Likhovtseva stands 5-8, she was absolutely helpless at the net against Williams' wingspan in the Wimbledon quarterfinals Tuesday afternoon, crumbling, 6-2, 6-0.
