WHMIS -- The First Year

For more than a year now, WHMIS has been the buzzword in Canadian occupational health and safety circles. It stands for Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. This legislation which came into force October 31, 1988, has affected most Canadian businesses. Manufacturers, importers, distributors, or simply users of controlled hazardous materials in a Canadian workplace have no choice but to comply with this legislation.
