TODAY one weary steelworker will be the last to down tools in Ebbw Vale after a back- breaking eight-hour shift.
As he walks through the gates of the town's doomed CORUS plant it will be the end of an era.
For the steelworker, lunchbox in hand and pint in mind, will be the last to clock out of the ill-fated factory.
But he still plans to be up early tomorrow. This steelworker, now a skint jobless statistic, has one final shift to carry out.
