IRVINE, Calif. _ Hesham Mohamed Hadayet was described as a devout Muslim who prayed five times a day. Yet he was unknown at local mosques.
Some who knew him said he was cold and unfriendly and would sometimes spout anti-Jewish rhetoric. Others recalled him as a polite and respectful man who gave rides in his limousine to friends of his 11-year-old son.
Bits and pieces of Hadayet's life emerged late last week as authorities worked to understand the motive behind his deadly Independence Day attack at Los Angeles International Airport _ also his 41st birthday.
