Citizens Western moves to unload La Jolla branch at opportune time
In what one banker calls "making lemonade out of a lemon," Citizens Western Bank is trying to unload its troubled La Jolla branch at a time when other bankers are scrambling to get a foothold in the posh seaside community.
Citizens has held discussions at various times to sell the branch, as its hefty size and lease payments have made it difficult for the independent bank to turn a profit at the site. But interest in the branch has heated up lately as more banks are eyeing the La Jolla market.
