Russia has moved a step closer toward shipping its crude to world markets from the Adriatic Sea's deepwater port of Omisalj, after Hungarian energy company Mol on Jun. 20 joined a cooperation agreement already signed by other countries (NC Jun.20,p4).
The project will become operational after governments of the six countries, including Russia, Belarus, Ukraine, Slovakia, Hungary, and Croatia ratify the agreement signed by their pipeline transportation companies.
A $40 million first phase envisages reversing the flow in an existing stretch of the Croatian Adria crude oil pipeline between Sisak and Omisalj, and building additional facilities in the port. ...
