THIS SURELY ISN'T WHAT JEFF WEAVER envisioned after being selected by the Tigers with the 14th overall pick in the 1998 draft.
Weaver was coming off an outstanding career at Fresno State. An All-American his senior year, Weaver had a 33-15 career record and struck out 21 batters in one game to set an NCAA post-season record.
But success as a pro hasn't followed. And if there's someone who could sue for nonsupport, it's Weaver.
Weaver's records in hist first three big league seasons are 9-12, 11-15 and 13-16.
