KUALA LUMPUR, July 8 Asia Pulse - Malaysia's Coincident Index was up 1.4 per cent in April 2002 to 204.3 points.

All components contributed positively to the index, with both the index of industrial production and imports being the largest at 0.4 per cent.

Its six-month smoothed growth rate recorded a positive growth of 1.7 per cent for the first time after remaining in the negative growth path since April 2001.

The Leading Index, which turned positive during July 2001, marked a higher growth of 1.6 per cent at 193.0 points in April 2002.
