WASHINGTON -- Milk drinking among teenagers has increased for the first time in six years, according to a new report by National Family Opinion's Share of Intake Panel (SIP)(1). Soft drinks remain the most dominant beverage among teenagers, aged 13-17, but the new data indicates that some teens are beginning to trade in their sodas for milk.

Much of the rise in the per capita teen milk consumption is due to flavored milks, which are now packaged in creative single-serve containers and available in teen-friendly locations like vending machines and convenience stores.
